Watching back Elie Saab‘s haute couture spring/summer collection for 2011 I don’t think I blinked, let alone drew breath. It was so perfectly poised for a feminine silhouette that I can’t imagine ever wanting to aspire to wear anything better. For a girly girl like me this was the epitome of feminine. The soft pastel colours which varied from nude to lilac glistened with crystals and the raw silk flowers, lace and intricately woven crochet panels reminds us of how long the making process really takes.
Apart from the pastel parade Saab showed a monochromatic spectrum of black, whites and grey colours, with spats of bright red and sea green to add an injection.
There was strong evening shapes, tailored to suit the models perfectly; but, all-in-all, there was slight deviation from evening gowns or cocktail dresses. The grande finale? A Jessica Rabbit-esque heart-shaped strapless floor length gown in stark black, split to the thigh with intent. Fabulous and feminine as always.
