London Fashion Week: Belle Sauvage autumn/winter 2011 collection

Belle Sauvage was a real surprise this afternoon, as the show took a whole new life from last season. The front row enjoyed by the likes of Diane Vickers, was a great place to see every detail from and as the show started with thundering metal music and a model complete with an oversized black saucer hat, I wondered what was coming next. However, the results that followed were fabulous.

Prints that reflected designers such as McQueen and Mary Katrantzou enthused through the collection in different shades and patterns – some whole, some faded – and paid homage to the design duo’s trademark abstract prints on cute maxi dresses and silk shift dresses.

A mix of luxurious leather panelling complete with French lace also adorned tailored pieces with the colour spectrum flowing from stark black to gold cracked leather and cream hues.

Accessories were also big with amazing suede wedge shoes (collaborated by Belle Sauvage and Lara Jensen) that embossed everything from feathers to gold chains and pointed studs at the back for fierce appreciation.

Models wore their hair braided, turned up and over and pinned onto the top of their heads. The bottom of the braids had been dyed black to match the mood. But with a cult following from such stars as Paloma Faith, Lady Gaga and Fergie, I’m sure this brand with be the one to watch for 2011.
