Within days of each other leading lady and president and chief creative officer of Halston’s American hertitage brand, actress Sarah Jessica Parker has resigned within her role for the company. Then over the next few days movie mogul Harvey Weinstein followed suit.
Although Weinstein, who is married to fashion designer wife Georgina Chapman, of A-list favourite label Marchesa, announced his departure back in April, and has been solely a financial backer, it still comes as a shock, as the Halston and Halston Heritage label has been enjoying a successful comeback in recent years.
Parker, who joined the company back in January 2010, has now left question marks hanging over the future of the company’s brand with London-based fashion designer Mario Schwab – who is Halston’s creative director, and forged a massive success in his designs over the past three seasons – being left practically in the lurch whilst the company’s owners Hilco Consumer Capital look for reinvestment. Anyone got a cool few million to hand?
