With only 100 days to go until the 2012 Olympics grace our London-based doorstep, officials have ramped up the promotion by leading worldwide events that have already included 20,000 flowers being planted (to emulate the Olympic rings) at Kew Gardens, and a barrage of royal soldiers replicating the number 100.

However, if you find your patriotism in fashion, instead of on the games, then why not get inspired by the track and field pieces which were displayed on the spring/summer 2012 catwalks. First up, Team GB’s very own designer Stella McCartney whom took sport luxe to the next level. Other designers such as Isabel Marant, Lacoste, Versus, DAKS and Hakaan amongst others all followed suit using a mix of sport luxe inspired pieces such as sweat tops, vests, slouchy pants, T-shirts and tennis-net materials alongside colourful palettes.

On the high street you can still purchase similar pieces at a fraction of the price. Kurt Geiger have just brought out a pair of gold sequined Converse pumps whilst Topshop also have concocted a great creation with their LIMBO sport panel platforms (£65). Rather than falling behind at the first hurdle why not opt for this fab mesh stitch white jumper by Dorothy Perkins (£26) above; perfect for early spring and late summer nights. Heritage brand Marks & Spencer also have a fab selection in store from official Olympic T-shirts to patriotic pieces and beyond while online Asos also stock a mound of sports wear inspired pieces that range from vintage watches, evening wear and day wear including pieces from designer Mark Fast and their own branded neon zip Asos parker coat (was £70 now £35). New Look also have their very own sports collection which houses these super cute heart print joggers for just £14.99: remember to team separates with H&M’s chinos for just £17.99 to help make them all gold winners…
