Forget picnics in the park this summer, as with this unpredictable weather you’re better off staying indoors and having a cup of tea; however, if you do prefer your Assam and Earl Grey’s as a treat why not make it a slightly more glamorous affair with friends or family by heading to The Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge, London, where you can now try out their fabulous Prêt-à-Portea.
That’s right as this season the luxurious hotel has opened its doors to the likes of Manolo Blahnik and Tory Burch (amongst other designers) for a classic take on afternoon tea adding cakes and pastries that resemble the latest catwalk designs for the style conscious.
Costing £39 per person you will also see such delights as Jason Wu’s coconut “Carolyn” hatbox, Prada’s Geisha-like white chocolate and Grand Marnier oversized coat embellished with red poppies and Balenciaga’s modern monochrome dark and white chocolate mousse dress set on a pine nut brownie topped with flamenco ruffles amongst other clever curated patisserie and biscuit creations.
To make the experience even more glam the Berkeley has also forged with pottery experts Wedgwood to produce a bespoke collection of fine-bone china for Pret-a-Portea in an exquisite multicolored diamond-shaped pattern gracing the new plates, cups and saucers and teapots etc for the ultimate fashion touch.
If you love fashion and afternoon tea this is a must-do experience.
