Myleene Klass launches new collection for Littlewoods.com

Adding to her expanding collection for Littlewoods.com Myleene Klass took to the stage yesterday evening at the St.Martin’s Lane Hotel to perform a piano solo for selected members of the press, to help launch her latest edition to her new range, and literally blew them all away. Not only with her musical skills but more importantly with her attention to detail and colourful collaboration for autumn 2012.

After sipping Myleene Martinis guests were treated to view the 23 piece collection which consisted of colourful knits, printed dresses, workwear tops and an assortment of day-to-evening wear ranging from a healthy bank balance worthy £35 to a more substantial £150 for detailed evening and occasion wear pieces. My favourite pieces have to be the leopard print skirt and cream mask jumper…

The new range itself will be online (at Littlewoods.com: 0844 822 8000) from next Tuesday 24 July 2012.

That’s right folks our fav songstress Rihanna has just announced that she is set to collaborate with high street chain River Island to design her first EVER clothing range.

Riri first visited the UK-based store back in February and it seems the designs not only caught her eye but were also quickly added to her wardrobe as she has since been spotted out in some of the brands pieces. According to River Island’s Style Insider blog Riri approached THEM to collaborate and knowing her style we can only imagine how colourful and fabulous the collection will be.

Speaking about the collaboration Rihanna noted: “I’ve been wanting to design my own collection for some time. River Island is the perfect partner for me to collaborate with and working with a British, family run business also really appealed to me. I find London really inspiring and River Island loves to have fun with clothes. I’m looking forward to working with them and creating something really special.”

Rihanna’s collection for River Island will launch in Spring 2013.

Cannes Film Festival 2012: best and worst dressed so far…

Last week saw the opening ceremony for the 65th Festival de Cannes. Leading the limelight was actress Eva Longoria in her timeless mermaid backless beaded gown by Marchesa, whilst starlets such as Diane Kruger adorned a more ethereal style in a mint green Giambattista Valli couture number.

Aside from a long list of metallic gowns Hollywood stars such as Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart both opted for theatrical black dresses in Dior Couture and Marchesa while Lana Del Rey and Lily Cole played it safe in classic LBD floor length options from Alberta Ferretti and McQueen.

Alongside them was the fabulous Cheryl Cole who jetted in for practically 24 hours to walk the red carpet for L’Oreal Paris before heading straight back yesterday to see fellow Girls Alound bandmate Kimberley Walsh on her final night production of Shrek the musical. Cole wore a striking Stephane Rolland white and red gown which was encased in marabou style feathers and beading in bright red at the bottom. The dress also seems to have caused quite a lot of controversy in the fashion world however, I think personally Chezza looks amazing.

However it was Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto who walked away with the ‘what was she thinking’ award for confused style. Sweetie wrapper top and layers of bubble gum pink satin underneath her Michael Angel frock ensured her next role may well be set a chocolate factory instead. However, Pinto did try to redeem herself in another thigh-splitting fluro creation later that week meaning she may have been hoping for a trend-setting saviour. Liberty Ross also stuck to a more daring fashion choice with her black fish net floor length gown by Tom Ford; the only saving grace was the electric blue sequins that attempted to disguise her underwear.

Lastly it wasn’t just the women who were turning heads and making fashion faux pas, as today monsieur Brad Pitt arrived in town for a photocall for new film Killing Them Softly adorning an ever so suave stone coloured Gucci suit teamed with a plastic looking white belt, white T shirt and matching hiker boots. This all could have been dispelled if it were only for the un-cool 90s locks. Oh Brad.

Friday Fashion Fix: Steve Madden for New Look

Am literally so excited it’s Friday! After a manic work week it’s a lovely weekend planned with a Turkish inspired meal out with my girlfriends tonight and then on to a hen do tomorrow for an old work colleague – who in true style will be hosting a vintage afternoon tea followed by cocktails.

Therefore with so many events to stop off at I have been looking for the perfect heels to team with my weekend outfits, and they come in the form of shoe designer Steve Madden. I am already a massive fan of his collections (hoarding an assortment of my own) and now this clever chap has collaborated with New Look to bring an affordable range to the high street (and online).

Choose from  a selection of bright colours and on-trend prints as well as classic black heels to match with a party dress for a glam night out. Aside from this he has also thrown into the mix casual day wear soles with a mixture of mid heels and embellished sandals; what more can you ask for?

My favourites are these gorge folk inspired wedges and his classic LBH (little black heels) with diamonte t-bar. Prices start from around £49.99.

Legend of hair Vidal Sassoon dies aged 84

Vidal Sasson and Mary Quant

If you are really into styles and change your hair to follow every celebrity such as the ‘Pob’ al la Victoria Beckham or the Cheryl Cole long bob then remind yourself quickly where these inspirational looks came from: Vidal Sasson.

The master of hair died yesterday aged 84 of natural causes after a long battle with leukaemia at his LA home.

British born Sasson was known for his innovative styles in the 1960s bringing to the party his 5-point-cut which liberated women’s hairstyles after a decade or more of wash and dry beehives and bouffants. Sassoon soon became the darling hair stylist of Europe with his infamous “wash and wear hair” which enabled women to just wash and go; something that had never been possible before. Sassoon was also a huge fixture on the 1960s swinging Carnaby fashion scene, styling models for fashion designer Mary Quant. Aside from this he built up a beauty empire of under his name and released several autobiography’s on his life amongst a long list of other projects.

Born in Hammersmith, London on 17 January 1928 Sasson was soon evacuated during the war to an orphanage. He then returned to London aged 17  where it was noted that his ‘mother took him to a barber shop in Whitechapel and insisted he was given an apprenticeship,’; the rest they say is history.

However, he will always be remembered as a genius of hair and a revolutionary giant for his time.

RIP Vidal Sasson.

2012: British Soap Awards winners and best dressed

Sunday night saw the best actors and actresses turn up to the London’s TV Centre for the British Soap Awards 2012.

Michelle Keegan

Amongst the winners were Coronation Street’s Michelle Keegan dressed in a gorgeous midnight blue Jexica floor-length gown and a dapper Scott Maslen (Eastenders) whom both won Sexiest Female and Sexiest Male for the forth consecutive year running.

Aside from this Eastenders also walked away with Best Soap for the fifth year in a row while Coronation Street’s Alison King (Carla Connor) who was dressed in a vintage halter neck gown, Martine Wester jewellery and Dune clutch took home the award Best Actress. Danny Miller who portrays Aaron Livesy in Emmerdale also walked away with Best Actor.

Most of the ladies however brought a huge Hollywood theme to the evening adorning full-length gowns and jewels which would have not have looked out of place at the Oscars or Vanity Fair after party. They posed in a similar backdrop aside a red curtain.

Catherine Tydesley (styled by Martine Alexander whom also styled Alison King, Samia Smith, Lucy Dixon, Gemma Merna and Sascha Parkinson) also looked striking in her Nadine Merabi baby pink gown, Monica Vinader jewellery and Artful gold clutch bag.

To end the night stars headed to the Cafe de Paris to dance the night away where both Corrie actresses Michelle Keegan, 24, and Brooke Vincent, 19, both made a quick change into knee length dresses to party the night away…

Victoria Beckham creates matching outfits for Harper Seven

If my mum were famous and I was a baby, then undoubtedly I’d want her to be Victoria Beckham (just imagine all those clothes/shoes/handbags!).

However, Harper Beckham doesn’t have to wish and furthermore super star mother Victoria Beckham decided that anything she can wear, Harper should wear better. Creating her own wardrobe on their current trip to Beijing Mrs Beckham has cutely coordinated matching (somewhat) outfits for her and baby Harper Seven to adorn. Albeit there not grossly top-to-toe matchy matchy, but in true Posh style are similarly coordinated to pull off the ever stylish chic look Victoria oozes.

So far Victoria has tweeted pics of three outfits which include a grey shift with black cuffs and collar (from her AW12 collection) and a cute patterned tunic for Harper; which they adorned for the launch of the ‘baby’ Range Rover Evoque. Then came a sexy LBD for mum and adorable checked top complete with neck bow, blue jeans and tiny converse for baby Harper and finally – my fav – a matching cuffs and collar shift dress for VB and checked dress and shoes for her mini-me.

As Victoria races around the Chinese capital on her promotional pit-stop it seems that herself and Harper can do no wrong style wise. Today she again tweeted fun images of herself in Starbucks and then later on set as she got ready to promote her latest collaboration with JOYCE boutique  – the mum-of-four also showcased a brand new snake skin black handbag with gold chains which she had created especially for the occasion.
