Browsing the exquisite website you would definitely note Vashi.com alongside a string of famous jewellery houses. The brand, which launched back in 2007, carries the world’s largest selection of customisable diamond jewellery online.

From engagement rings to pendants, striking studs to wedding jewellery, gemmologist Vashi Dominguez brings to you the most dazzling diamonds at affordable prices. Timeless and classic, a Vashi bespoke pair of earrings will wow whatever the occasion. Perfect for sophisticated soirées and upcoming Christmas parties, a pair of signature diamond earrings are a staple for any fashionista’s jewellery box. I would opt for as clear a diamond as possible (IF or VVS1) when designing or purchasing the jewels due to the enhancement in the clarity and sparkle, alongside a dazzling colour such as D. However, whatever your budget, there is something to suit everyone. Whether the cut is Round (like I’ve chosen), Princess or Asscher, team with a striking embellished LBD. This creates an eye-catching party look or you could opt to surprise a loved on on Christmas Day with a pair of delicate yet desirable diamond studs giving the full wow factor! Wear with a centre parting (as seen on the Burberry catwalk) or add a chic updo and smokey eye to create a memorable effect that really accentuates the sparkle in your diamonds.

Aside from earrings you can also create styles like this striking halo pendant (above) set in precious platinum. Apparently there is no better way to say “I Love You” than with a diamond and as Marilyn Monroe so famously sang, “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” So, partners take note! If you are looking to spoil a loved one this Christmas (or for any special occasion) then why not elect for a stunning bespoke diamond pendant. At Vashi, you can choose from a range of stunning designs, including this 21 round side stone diamond pendant that can be set with an array of sizes from 0.25ct to 5ct creating a lust-worthy piece for any diamond lover. Wear alongside a plunging neckline or jumpsuit and statement heels to really emphasize and highligh the diamond sparkle on a décolletage – perfect for the party season ahead.

Cannes Film Festival 2012: best and worst dressed so far…

Last week saw the opening ceremony for the 65th Festival de Cannes. Leading the limelight was actress Eva Longoria in her timeless mermaid backless beaded gown by Marchesa, whilst starlets such as Diane Kruger adorned a more ethereal style in a mint green Giambattista Valli couture number.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Aside from a long list of metallic gowns Hollywood stars such as Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart both opted for theatrical black dresses in Dior Couture and Marchesa while Lana Del Rey and Lily Cole played it safe in classic LBD floor length options from Alberta Ferretti and McQueen.

Alongside them was the fabulous Cheryl Cole who jetted in for practically 24 hours to walk the red carpet for L’Oreal Paris before heading straight back yesterday to see fellow Girls Alound bandmate Kimberley Walsh on her final night production of Shrek the musical. Cole wore a striking Stephane Rolland white and red gown which was encased in marabou style feathers and beading in bright red at the bottom. The dress also seems to have caused quite a lot of controversy in the fashion world however, I think personally Chezza looks amazing.

However it was Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto who walked away with the ‘what was she thinking’ award for confused style. Sweetie wrapper top and layers of bubble gum pink satin underneath her Michael Angel frock ensured her next role may well be set a chocolate factory instead. However, Pinto did try to redeem herself in another thigh-splitting fluro creation later that week meaning she may have been hoping for a trend-setting saviour. Liberty Ross also stuck to a more daring fashion choice with her black fish net floor length gown by Tom Ford; the only saving grace was the electric blue sequins that attempted to disguise her underwear.

Lastly it wasn’t just the women who were turning heads and making fashion faux pas, as today monsieur Brad Pitt arrived in town for a photocall for new film Killing Them Softly adorning an ever so suave stone coloured Gucci suit teamed with a plastic looking white belt, white T shirt and matching hiker boots. This all could have been dispelled if it were only for the un-cool 90s locks. Oh Brad.

Legend of hair Vidal Sassoon dies aged 84

Vidal Sasson and Mary Quant

If you are really into styles and change your hair to follow every celebrity such as the ‘Pob’ al la Victoria Beckham or the Cheryl Cole long bob then remind yourself quickly where these inspirational looks came from: Vidal Sasson.

The master of hair died yesterday aged 84 of natural causes after a long battle with leukaemia at his LA home.

British born Sasson was known for his innovative styles in the 1960s bringing to the party his 5-point-cut which liberated women’s hairstyles after a decade or more of wash and dry beehives and bouffants. Sassoon soon became the darling hair stylist of Europe with his infamous “wash and wear hair” which enabled women to just wash and go; something that had never been possible before. Sassoon was also a huge fixture on the 1960s swinging Carnaby fashion scene, styling models for fashion designer Mary Quant. Aside from this he built up a beauty empire of under his name and released several autobiography’s on his life amongst a long list of other projects.

Born in Hammersmith, London on 17 January 1928 Sasson was soon evacuated during the war to an orphanage. He then returned to London aged 17  where it was noted that his ‘mother took him to a barber shop in Whitechapel and insisted he was given an apprenticeship,’; the rest they say is history.

However, he will always be remembered as a genius of hair and a revolutionary giant for his time.

RIP Vidal Sasson.

Alesha Dixon quits Strictly Come Dancing

Radio (Alesha Dixon song)

We’ve barely hit 2012 and already there has been another casualty on the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom dance floor. This time it comes in the face of singer turned judge Alesha Dixon. After she replaced Arlene Phillips back in 2009 Alesha held her own and won the nations heart through her quick learning and technical notations as celebrities and pro dancers battled it out on the floor below her week after week. We loved her charismatic charms, dress sense (thanks to stylist Katie Greengrass), and fun friendship between herself and fellow judge Bruno Tonioli, but it seems that Alesha has chosen to move channels and become a fourth judge for the next series of Britain’s Got Talent on ITV1 for it’s sixth series alongside Simon Cowell, David Walliams and Amanda Holden – which has yet to be set in stone and confirmed by ITV execs.

The ex Mis-Teeq singer, 33, clearly was an asset in the ratings war as Strictly smashed the X-Factor week after week last year, therefore this makes perfect sense that Simon Cowell should jump in and bring her on-board.

In a statement made earlier Dixon noted that:

“After three incredible years on the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel I have decided that it is time to move on. Strictly Come Dancing will always hold a special place in my heart as it has been such an amazing experience, both as a winning competitor and as a judge.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in the show, the production team, my fellow judges, and a very special thank you to the fans for their support.

Music is my great passion and the reason for the other incredible opportunities that have come my way and I am looking forward to getting back into the studio and focusing on making a new record in 2012.”

The only question is who will be set to replace the Dixon? We would like to think that Cheryl Cole could be just the ticket, however ex-Principle ballerina Darcey Bussell and actress Jennifer Grey, whom both appeared as guest judges may be in the running; although by their performances the nation may not have warmed to them quite as much as Dixon. My best bet would be someone along the same age group and maybe an ex-professional such as Karen Hardy, Zoe Ball (who took over from Claudia Winkleman on spin-off show It Takes Two last series), or another well-loved singer in the industry with mass popularity…. Is Adele free at all I wonder.

Kate Middleton voted No1 beauty icon for 2011

Family of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge

The Duchess of Cambridge and her sister Pippa Middleton have been voted the UK’s consecutive number one and two choice as  beauty icons for 2011.

In a Beauty Icons poll led by high street store Superdrug the Middleton sisters out-ranked other celebrities including Cheryl Cole (who came 3rd) and TV presenter Holly Willoughby and pop princess Rihanna – whom all came in the top 5, whilst X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos just missed out coming in at 6th place.

It was in fact Kate who beat Pippa by just 10 per cent of the vote due to her steady application of black eyeliner and fresh dewy skin. The eyeliner has now become a staple for most women’s make up bags raking up sales of black kohl eyeliner by a further 20 per cent this year alone.

Noting that within the top 5, four of the women were brunettes, Sara Wolverson, Superdrug Director of beauty, who commissioned the research said: “What is fascinating is the four of the five celebrity women to appear in the top five are brunettes, which would indicate that while blondes may have more fun, brunettes are seen to be more beautiful.”

(What do you think?… comments below)

Whilst the top 6 all seemed to be under 30 years of age the rest of the top ten included megastar and mum-to-be Beyonce, Harry Potter actress and Burberry muse Emma Watson, Amercian singer Katy Perry and fashion designer/ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.

Other stars who were noted on the list were TOWIE’s star Amy Childs, Lady Gaga and singer Adele. Shockingly celebrities which appeared in last year’s top 20 Beauty Icons, such as Kylie Minogue, Fearne Cotton, Leona Lewis, Michelle Obama and Gemma Arterton, have all been dropped from this year’s list.

Sara Wolverson added: “As always our Beauty Icons survey gives a snapshot of the changing face of British beauty.”

Cheryl Cole launches shoe collection

She may have been in hiding after another turbulent year in the spotlight but Girls Aloud star and solo artist Cheryl Cole has now come back fighting with her own footwear collection.

Cheryl Cole for StylistPick.comThe collection – which launched online yesterday at Stylistpick.com – offers a premium range of high quality shoes and boots that can be worn from day to-night and to any red carpet event.

Voted ‘Best Dressed’ in an array of luxury magazines and adorning front covers for premium titles such as Elle, Tatler and Cosmopolitan, Cheryl and her stylist Victoria Adcock seem to clearly understand what style works for her and millions alike. Therefore it was important then that Cole was involved in the process from an early stage.

“I think people were expecting just a handful of high heels made in different ways, but that’s not what I’m about,” Cole stated. “I wanted each girl to have something she could relate to, whatever she does, or however she feels.”

“I really do feel that there is something for everyone here.”

Once purchased your selection of shoes will arrive in packaging designed by Cole, with her very own branded tissue and black and white shoe boxes with hand tied pink ribbon.

There are eight styles available in the collection which range from £79.90-£119.85, with further additions being added in the New Year, but my money is on the GLAM SLAM or YOUR ROYAL HOTNESS heels; both a great addition to any Christmas party outfit.

XFactor latest: Simon Cowell sacks Cheryl Cole from U.S. show

It seems her championing mentor Simon Cowell has done a complete 360 on Cheryl Cole. Just months after he gushed over ‘America falling in love with her’, he has taken back his words – and his job  – advocating ex-Pussy Cat, and solo artist Nicole Scherzinger as head judge on the U.S. panel of the X Factor.

The drop was said to have come for two reason’s, mainly because he feared that the American audiences were not engaging and understanding of Cole’s Geordie accent very well, but secondly because their seemed to be no real ‘chemistry’ between the females in the team; namely Cole and Paula Abdul.

This must come as a complete blow to Cole as not only had Cowell pushed for her to move to L.A. and be in the line up for his judging team, but after her year in turmoil (her divorce and malaria scare) she must be left reeling by the result.

So what is to come of Cole? Of course audiences would love to see her back on the U.K. show, but this may not be a possibility since N-Dubz singer Tulisa has already been lined up to take her part.

And what of Steve Jones? His co-presenter status may also be up in the air, as if the U.S. cannot understand a northern lass, then how on earth will they understand the Welsh? Hmm, I would not like to be Simon Cowell right now…
