Isabel Marant For H&M

Our fav high street / designer collaborator is back with a bang and this time its the turn of super-genius French designer Isabel Marant.

Isabel Marant For H&M

Isabel Marant For H&M0

The Parisian designer’s appointment was announced earlier today and is set to bring a mix of her urban boho and chic rock ‘n’ roll attitude to a brand new range for H&M.

The collection won’t be available until the 14th November (sucre bleu!) but will be based in over 250 stores worldwide and sold online so we can all (hopefully) get a piece of this genuine French range. Inspired by her signature style Marant will apparently be creating a collection of clothing and accessories for both women and teenagers as well as (for the very first time) a collection for men!

Marant herself has also commented that: “I am flattered by this collaboration: H&M works with the best designers and this invitation is an exciting honour. I aim at creating something real, that women want to wear in their everyday lives, with a certain carelessness, which I think is very Parisian: you dress up, but do not pay too much attention and still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude. Everything can be mixed following one’s own instincts: my take on fashion is all about personality”.

Très exciting.

All Hail The Summer Sale…

So summer was officially here (last week) and has since slipped into a weather coma sprouting fine showers and dull grey clouds, however if you’re still psyched for a sunnier climate (which should hopefully be returning soon) then the launch of the summer sales this week should turn that Monday frown upside down.

If you’re looking to update your wardrobe with classic designer wear which will last the test of time then why not head straight to and whom are both slashing up to 50% off(!) online and in store.

Luxury high street stores such as Jaeger are also offering huge discounts with up to 50% on menswear, womenswear and accessories whilst retail favs H&M, Oasis, New Look, River Island and Warehouse to name a few are also cutting down the price on some super-saving pieces that will brighten up any holiday suitcase.

In these frugal times the art to a great sale shop is not to splurge because everything is super cheap but instead think carefully about what pieces in your current wardrobe have seen better days, and then try to replicate them. Good staple pieces are also key such as workwear dresses or jeans, that will last months rather than one wear, and generic beach wear like denim shorts and bright vests which you know will run from season to season.

If you do sale purchase on impulse then that’s fine too, just remember to pick something such as a statement bag or dress which you know you will wear for a certain summer occasion or event.

Marni for H&M: 2012 collaboration

I am a sucker for a print; so nothing is grabbing my attention more today than the Marni at H&M collaboration.

Doors apparently opened at stores at 8am this morning whilst online a queue order system was formed almost instantaneously.

The collection, which was formed with famous Italian fashion house Marni consists of essential pieces such as loose dresses, summer coats and slender jacket-and-skirt ensembles, shirts and tops in different prints and textures for women in a mixture of sporty daywear and lady-like fashion, whilst for men parka coats, Bermuda shorts, formal suits, knits, sweaters and cashmere bring fun as well as a selection of comfortable lounge wear for everyday living.

Marni’s creative director and founder, Consuelo Castiglioni, has brought together a playful range of style possibilities mixed in with an elegant wardrobe complete with accessories that evolve around perfect detailing throughout.

For those looking to purchase a piece of H&M history you may want to make a pit stop dash during your lunch break, alternatively keep queuing online.

Did you make the cut? Let me know what you’ve purchased from the collection…

David Beckham hits fever pitch for H&M

Aside for the designer collaborations at H&M (think Versace, Marni et al) I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed a fashion frenzy like this before (correct me if I’m wrong!). Today, after a hugely long anticipated wait, this clever marketing team at high street fav H&M have placed an array of oversized shopping bags at a handful of locations across London bearing David Beckhams body before his underwear launch hits stores tomorrow morning.

The bag locations include London Bridge, Covent Garden, Pottersfield and both Westfield shopping centres. The clever Sweedish brand have also leaked another marketing tool via YouTube which shows a video of Beckham in his own designs. This is set to be released on Sunday February 5, during the second quarter of the NFL Super Bowl championship final and in the U.K. during the live Manchester United vs Chelsea match.

The black and white 30-second film-noir style advert encases the footballer to the sound of Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood by The Animals.

Beckham has commented on his enthusiasm stating that: “I’m excited about my Bodywear ad featuring in this year’s Super Bowl.

“My design team and I spent 18 months developing the collection, it’s been a fantastic collaborative experience, and I’m very happy with the end result.

“Like every fan, I’m looking forward to Super Bowl Sunday.”

We can’t wait either…

H&M launch The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo collection

CEO’s at H&M must be feeling sky-high this season as not only have they instrumentally been responsible for causing the biggest fashion frenzy in London probably this year (Donatella Versace adorning their Regent Street branch) when they launched their H&M collaboration with Versace but after a hugely successful year they then announced that they were going to top it all and produce a collection with Marni for spring 2012 which left us mere fashion mortals salivating at the thought.

But it seems you can’t stop a workhorse, so in true H&M stye this week they have divulged that they have set in motion their very first film collaboration which is being sold in stores from 14 December 2011.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo collaboration is set to bring us an array of slouchy vests, leather trousers, skinny jeans, slim-fit hoodies and jackets alongside battered baseball boots portraying the anti-heroine character of Lisbeth Salander. Not only does David Fincher’s forthcoming film collection show off industrial shades of black and grey mixed with white and red but to also ensure it’s authenticity H&M also brought on board the film’s actual costume designer Trish Summerville.

The 30-piece collection was debuted exclusively at Colette in Paris last week; the collection will be available in-store and online from next Wednesday.

H&M launch capsule collection straight after Versace collaboration

H&M must be ready with all hands on deck as not only are their doors about to open tomorrow morning to crowds of fans (most of them who are probably queuing now outside the store) waiting to purchase the latest collaboration with the Italian design house Versace, they have also cleverly designed an even more exclusive capsule collection which will be sold solely in their Selfridges store from next week.

Coat £79.99 for H&M by Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou

Guest curated by Sophia Neophitou- Apostolou, Editor in Chief of 10 magazine, the minimalist collection hosts an array of silhouette inspired pieces which include a cream leather panel dress, a black leather pencil skirt, cream belted coat and accessories such as a snakeskin print cuff bracelet and bag and a modern court shoe with a snake heel.

Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou has noted that: “the pieces that I have selected for H&M Selfridges focus on staples that have a classic, modern, minimalist feel, strong architectural shapes and really simple clothes to build a wardrobe that doesn’t wear you. I have kept the colours very simple, black, white and cream with some hints of snake, gold and brown for the accessories.

“My favourite pieces are the cream wool coat with gold belt detail, black leather pencil skirt, the black clutch and the great pair of heels with snake-skin detailing.”

The colour palette for this ladies wear collection is black, white and cream and fabrics include silk, wool and leather which is perfect for a contemporary wardrobe that can be styled for both day and evening wear.

The collection is available in H&M Selfridges from 24th November 2011.
